Frank Simon, senior managing producer at Sony Computer Entertainment America, answers your questions about the explosive first person shooter on PS Vita.

What inspiration did you take from previous Resistance games and bring to Resistance: Burning Skies? (Eweor, UK)

There's quite a bit that was taken from prior Resistance games as this is the fifth title in the series. Things ranging from weapons like the Bullseye and the Auger to the Chimera and the weapon wheel. But probably one of the coolest things that has stayed constant in the franchise is the sense that humanity can overcome unstoppable odds.

How was Insomniac Games involved in developing Resistance: Burning Skies, despite having finished the Resistance saga? (sliph3r, Germany)

Insomniac was involved from the inception of Resistance: Burning Skies. In fact, during the development of Resistance 3 we had asked the question; "what would things be like from a civilian perspective?" Resistance: Burning Skies is the answer to that question in that Tom Riley is a civilian fireman who thinks it's just another day on the job.

What makes Resistance: Burning Skies unique compared to other first person shooters? (Urban_Hermit, UK)

First and foremost, the presence of dual analog sticks on a portable gaming system makes all the difference. That being said, the front touchscreen has allowed us to take secondary firing to a new level by presenting these options to users in a straightforward and easy to access manner.

Where does this game fit into the timeline of the Resistance universe? (Hbbear, UK)

Resistance: Burning Skies takes place just after the start of events in Resistance 2. If you recall, Resistance 2 starts with Hale visiting Daedalus at the SRPA research base in Iceland and then there is a two-year gap before we pick up with things in San Francisco. Resistance: Burning Skies takes place during the invasion of the eastern seaboard of the United States.

Will there be new enemies in the game? (Bersecker, Spain)

Of course, there are new enemies in a variety of shapes and sizes. We have returning Chimera like the Grunts, Steelheads and Leapers, and new Chimera like the Executioner, the Impaler and the Abomination.

Why did you create a fireman as the main character instead of one of the already familiar faces of Resistance? (sniperrifle1891, Netherlands)

Firemen are universal heroes so we felt the players would be able to form an immediate bond with the main character, plus Tom is grounded as he has a family that he's also trying to save from the catastrophic events unfolding around them.

How many different weapons will be used? (BricoMen, Spain)

There are actually nine different and unique weapons you'll find across Resistance: Burning Skies.  What makes these weapons stand out from the pack is the different ways you can customise them using Grey Tech you find across the single player campaign. These allow you to build up the weapons you enjoy using and play the game the way you want to play it.

Do you think Resistance: Burning Skies will impress Resistance fans? (Aquamaler, Germany)

We certainly hope so. We've provided our fans with a whole arsenal of toys to play with and we hope they have as much fun using them as we did making them.

What PlayStation Vita features did you have the most fun working with? (Ftwn_x_SnIpE, UK)

Dual analog sticks? Front touch controls? Easy access Wi-Fi connections? It's hard to put your finger on one thing. Having dual analog sticks in a first person shooter is paramount for easy access controls. The addition of the touchscreen has made for really cool secondary fire modes. From dragging out a shield for the Auger to loading the Napalm launcher for the Mule, the touchscreen has allowed us to provide really interesting ways for players to interact directly with the world of Resistance.

In what ways have you used the capabilities of PS Vita to turn this game into the ultimate handheld experience? (studio64, Netherlands)

There's a lot that PlayStation Vita has to offer, and we feel like we've done a great job in giving the player a fantastic FPS. With an all-new story, a new character, new and returning weapons and Chimera, a rich multiplayer mode and a fully integrated control scheme, we believe Resistance: Burning Skies will keep fans having fun in the Resistance universe for months to come.

Congratulations to the winners listed above; each has received a voucher code to download Resistance: Burning Skies from PlayStation Store. You can get your hands on a copy of Resistance: Burning Skies from your local high street shops or download it from PlayStation Store.
