Retro off-road racing
Fans of the MotorStorm series on PlayStation will recognise locations from previous titles - tracks from MotorStorm Monument Valley, MotorStorm Pacific Rift, MotorStorm Arctic Edge and MotorStorm Apocalypse have been recreated for the scaled down engines of MotorStorm RC. Dusty deserts, dense jungles, icy terrains and post-apocalyptic cities are all waiting for you.
The cars may be smaller, but the thrill of off-road racing in extreme environments remains just as huge as ever as these tiny vehicles skid round corners, jump over bridges and cause mini pile-ups when someone brakes too early.
A choice of four top-down camera angles means that you can see the other muscle cars, monster trucks and rally cars as they gain on you, each in a frantic scramble to the finish line. In some modes, you'll also be able to see your best time, represented as a moving arrow, in order to help you beat your fastest lap.
Race to PlayStation Store to download the festival fun to your PS Vita and PlayStation 3 when MotorStorm RC launches in February 2012 - and don't forget that if you buy the PS Vita version, you will be able to download the PS3 version for free, and vice versa. Once both versions have been downloaded, you can continue your progress back and forth on both systems by signing in to PlayStation Network.
Small is mighty
Prepare for a whole new take on the legendary PlayStation off-road racing festival in MotorStorm RC. Available on both PlayStation 3 and PS Vita, this top-down racer steers in a completely new direction and moves away from previous titles in the series such as MotorStorm Apocalypse and MotorStorm Arctic Edge.
Instead of the life-sized vehicles that MotorStorm titles usually serve up, you're racing radio-controlled cars. There are still bulky monster trucks and ferocious big rigs, but this time, they're miniature. Don't let their size fool you - they're fast, furious and each one will fight for their place in the race.
Get the hang of your new ride in the Playground - an area designed especially for you to put the pedal to the metal, perform tricks and stunts and learn how to handle your nifty little RC cars. Adding more authenticity to these miniature motors are the controls used in the PS Vita version - they handle just like real RC cars, meaning you use the left stick to steer left and right, and the right stick to manoeuvre forwards and backwards. There are alternative controls if you fancy a more conventional approach; both options will have you skidding and sliding around the tracks in no time.
When you're ready to join the race, watch from above as your car buzzes around tracks inspired by the extreme locations of previous MotorStorm settings. A host of game modes keep your RC cars - and your heart - racing, whether you're playing at home on your PS3 or on your PS Vita on the move. Try and get the fastest lap and try out a variety of vehicles in Wreckreation, or enter the ultimate RC world championships and compete for glory in the MotorStorm RC Festival. Earn medals, break records and unlock even more cars and tracks.
This brand new take on the MotorStorm festival is not only great fun, it's also wonderfully creative and provides a fantastic racing experience on both PS Vita and PlayStation 3.
The most competitive MotorStorm yet
MotorStorm RC on PlayStation 3 and PS Vita treats you to a new and convenient type of cross-platform play, entirely focused on letting you play on your own schedule.
Sign in to PlayStation Network and you'll be able to track your friends' progress and see their lap times and achievements on your Pitwall. You'll be able to see if one of your mates has completed an event faster than you, and then replay that event to regain your title. This type of cross-platform play means that you're constantly battling it out, but don't actually have to be playing the game at the same time. As long as you're signed in to PSN, you'll be instantly updated when something happens and you'll always know how your friends are doing. Lap times and completed challenges are available for you to see - and have a go at yourself.
Those who choose to jump into the iconic off-road racing festival on their PlayStation 3 can also get their mates round to go wheel-to-wheel with up to three other players via offline split-screen races.
If you've downloaded MotorStorm RC to your PS3 and PS Vita systems, you can continue your progress on either one of them, so you won't have to wait until you get home to earn more medals and rise to the top of the leader boards.
