Find out how you can use some YouTube features without linking your Google account to your YouTube account.

With just a Google Account, you can watch, like and subscribe. Without a YouTube channel, you won't have any public presence on YouTube. If you want to upload videos, leave comments or make playlists, you can create a public YouTube channel:

1. Make sure you're signed in to your YouTube account.

2. Go to create a channel (if you already have a channel, the link will take you to it).

3. Check the details and click [OK] to create your new channel.

If you don't want to use your full name on your channel, you can create a new channel with a YouTube username. Click [To use a business or other name, click here] in the prompt. You can then enter the username you want.

Bring your subscriptions and playlists to your PS Vita when you sign in

If you've got a YouTube account, you can sign in when you load the YouTube app on your PS Vita. Although you don't need one of these to use the app, having one means you can experience more of YouTube's great features. If you don't have an account, you'll need to create one on your PC first.

Once signed in, you'll be able to do the following:

  • Add videos to the Favourites (1) tab and keep the clips you love in one place. This will bookmark particular videos in your account so you can return to them easily for repeat viewing. Any videos you add will also be saved to the Favourites on your PC.
  • Rate played videos by tapping Like or Dislike (2).
  • Leave a comment about videos for other users to see (3).
  • Flag videos as inappropriate by using the options menu (4). After you have reported a videoYouTube staff will review it. If the video is found to be in violation of YouTube's Terms of Use, it will be removed from the site.

Download the YouTube app now to your PS Vita from PlayStation Store for free and enjoy the videos you love on the go.

Like a video, post a comment and read what others are saying

Once you've selected a video to watch, there are several things you can do to ensure you're getting the most from it.

Tap the expand icon (1) to view the video in full screen mode – to go back to small screen mode, simply touch the icon again or pinch the screen to make the video smaller. From full screen mode, you'll be able to see if a video is high resolution and can be viewed in High Definition. If it is, tap the red HD button to view the video in 720p quality.

Next to the video are three tabs. Tap the first one to see suggested videos (2) that are related to the one you're watching. You can also view comments about the video you're watching (3) from other users – you'll have to be signed in with a YouTube account if you want to leave your own comment. Finally, you can check out any information that has been added by the user who uploaded the video in the information tab (4).
