The PlayStation Community reveals its top five memories of the explosive Twisted Metal series.
Whether you recall slivers of flaming rubber spiralling through the air or the sound of metal crunching into concrete, the devastation derbies of the Twisted Metal series have left their tyre marks all over many of your gaming memories. The destruction first started over 15 years ago on PS one and has thrilled new fans with the recent Twisted Metal – the series' debut on PlayStation 3, which supports up to 16 players online.
We asked you to tell us why you love the Twisted Metal series. Below, we've picked the five winning responses. Each winner will receive a copy of Twisted Metal on PS3 – exclusively signed by the series' creator, David Jaffe.
"My best chum and I sank literally thousands of hours into the Twisted Metal 2 campaign; no game has ever squeezed so much variety, excitement and daft laughs out of a set of maps, vehicles and weapons. Holland Field of Screams plus Twister equals massive damage!" (Moshbag, UK)
"My favourite moment with the series was playing Twisted Metal: Head On. It was the first game that actually got me playing my PSP all day of every day. Being able to take my vehicular mayhem with me everywhere I went was blissful!" (MA77_G0D, UK)
"Where do I start? All through the series I've loved exploding cars, flying over other vehicles in flaming wrecks, blowing up rivals as they rush into battle and finally smashing my ride into walls in spectacular fireballs. These are some of the best things about the Twisted Metal series." (Cassgeul, France)
"It's been a hugely action-packed series. Highlights for me are the sheer variety of ways to destroy the enemy and the fact that there has always been a map to suit any tastes, no matter how many of you are playing." (Mainz_05_Fan, Germany)
"It's hard to put into words the experiences I've had with this game. The only thing I can say is that, to me, it is one of the best games I have played with friends. I can't put my finger on it, but launching missiles from hearses is the kind of thing I'm talking about. I'm sure we'll have more good times too." (Ermakos, Spain)
