Having trouble with the epic PS3 and PS Vita action adventure, The Jak and Daxter Trilogy? Never fear – a certain wisecracking Ottsel is on hand...
Dear friends, are you exasperated by Eco? Muddled by Metal Heads? Frustrated by furballs? Okay, maybe not that last one, but either way, your troubles are over! Who better than the dashing, the daring, the dynamic Daxter - that's me - to help you through these dangerous times? Yeah, my pal Jak may disagree, but where is he now in your hour of need? Not here! Need I say more?
First of all, let me congratulate you on your stunningly good taste in following my... and Jak's... adventures. You're already off to a good start, so let's continue that with a few fantastically furry pointers so you make us look good. Although I have to admit, we do already look great in this fancy new package...
Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy
Keep your eyes sharp
Make sure you don't miss the chance to collect any Power Cells on your travels. These little babies are valuable and you won't get too far without them. Hopefully you can find some lying around; if not, see if you can talk anyone into trading for them. The last resort is - gulp - working to earn one.
Don't mind the flies
See those blue, glowy, flying things? They're Scout Flies. No, don't try to swat them - they're excellent for spying on the Lurkers, but they keep getting caught and trapped in boxes. Releasing all the Scout Flies in an area earns you a lovely Power Cell. And we already know they're useful, right?
Jak II: Renegade
Health is better than wealth
Even fearless heroes take a whacking from time to time, so suck it up and search for health packs to boost your energy levels. We Ottsels find it hard to be heroic when we're tired.
Okay, so wealth is handy too
Let me get this straight - Metal Heads are not friendly. So I don't suggest trying to talk to them. However, they do have very precious gems stuck inside their skulls, so deliver a good old beat down to grab the loot, which you can then trade to Oracle for some fancy new skills.
Stay on the move
There's a lot of ground to cover, and while I can run for days, Jak will probably get tired and start whining. So find a hover vehicle as soon as you can. I'm sure the driver would be happy to hand it over; if not they can meet the furry fists of justice.
I could say a lot of things about Eco, especially the Dark Eco which transformed me from the handsome man I was into the still-handsome Ottsel I now am. But let's not wallow in that. Dark Eco can do some pretty wild things to Jak, while Light Eco can give him some great new powers. Know your Eco, brave soul, it will save lives. Namely, mine.
Map it out
The desert Wasteland is no place to get lost, so keep your eyes open for useful symbols appearing on the map - they could lead you to some very cool places.
Lock and load
All right, now we're talking. The Morph-Gun should be the weapon of choice for any adventurer. It can be upgraded with different colour-coded ammunition, so use it to your advantage. Red is for strong, close range weapons; yellow for long-range precision; blue for speed and firepower and Dark... well, you can find that one out for yourself. Just make sure you have your fingers in your ears when you fire it. And your eyes closed. In fact, just run.
There's plenty more I could tell you, but why ruin your fun? Just make sure you do the right thing by me and the big lug, Jak, okay? And if you've not yet grabbed a copy of The Jak and Daxter Trilogy on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita, then what are you waiting for? You can also buy all three games together or separately from PlayStation Store, so don't let my advice be in vain!
