Tip 3 of 6: Multiplayer mayhem and more awaits you once you get your PlayStation 4 online.
Unleash your PS4 system's full potential
If you're not already a member of the value packed PlayStation Plus service, now is an ideal time to hop aboard. Not only will you be able to enjoy online multiplayer games on PS4, but you'll also gain exclusive features such as a variety of acclaimed titles every month via the Instant Game Collection, PlayStation Store discounts, Online Game Save Storage, early access to exclusive game content and automatic game patch downloads.
And if you have a PlayStation 3 or PlayStation Vita your single PlayStation Plus membership lets you take advantage of all of these great features across all of your systems for no additional costs. If you're a member, you're already set.
Share the PlayStation Plus love
Your PlayStation Plus membership is locked to your primary PS4 system - which means everyone in your home can use your membership and the goodies that come with it as long as they log in to that system. And just to make you even more of an instant hit with your friends and family, any games or content purchased by one user are available to others who play on that system.
Your favourite sites on PlayStation 4
PS4 has a built-in web browser which is fast and easy to use. So you can enjoy all your regularly visited sites on your TV. We think eu.playstation.com looks especially lovely in High Definition...
Get real if you want
Want to make sure everyone knows who you are? Allow your friends to see your real name in addition to your Online ID, and import your Facebook photo as your profile picture. Up to 16 accounts can be stored on your PS4, along with temporary guest accounts, so all your nearest and dearest can have their own names linked to your PS4.
Don't forget your free-to-play goodies
While you're waiting to get a PlayStation Plus membership, why not try out some of the free-to-play games which don't require PlayStation Plus for their online multiplayer modes? Keep an eye out for titles such as Blacklight: Retribution, DC Universe Online, War Thunder and Warframe which are free-to-play.
Get into multiplayer action via Cross Play
Own a PS Vita? Then you not only have the ability to play your PS4 games on the move via Remote Play and a Wi-Fi connection, but you can also enjoy online multiplayer between both formats with PlayStation Plus and Cross Play. And by using Remote Play, you can also use your PS Vita system as a second screen, so you and a mate can play together in certain games.
Collecting friends in need
You can add up to 2,000 online friends with your PS4 via PlayStation Network, so don't be afraid to make new mates while you're taking down all and sundry with your flash gaming skills. You can view your Friends list on any device you have signed in to with your Sony Entertainment Network account.
Not online? Don't panic
If you need to download the day-one system software update version 1.51 but can't get online with your PS4, don't worry. Use your PC to download it to a USB memory stick. If this is the first time you're updating your PS4 system, enter safemode first by pressing and holding the Power Button for seven seconds when the system is off. Then insert the USB memory stick and update your PS4 system.
